    About us

Hello! My name is Eric and I'm pleased to meet you. I'm a jack-of-all-trades - master of none - kind of person. I love to teach and share the knowledge I'm accumulated. I'm patient and pleasant. Sometimes serious, sometimes silly, depending on what's needed at the time. I'm very determined and will achieve whatever goal I set.

    My place

Our place is 12 acres right in the middle of the Finger Lakes region of New York state, USA. We are surrounded by farms and natural beauty, many wineries, breweries and select restaurants. There's hiking within a 30 minute drive.

    Projects

The overall project is multi-phase. This is phase I and focuses on the orchard, growing plots, planting trees, finishing the round building and maybe building the main building (bank loan dependent). For the round building, the structure and roof decking are done, but still need to do walls (light straw clay), roof insulation, waterproofing, earthen roof, plaster, windows, door, floor, etc. This building is only about 16' (4.9m) in diameter.

    Accommodation

This is a ground up build. As such, I sleep in a camper and helpers would sleep in tents. There is an outdoor shower of sunlight warmed well water for the brave. There is also a state park with showers only a couple of miles away. We'll bring in port-a-potties as needed.

    Food

Besides what we would grow, food would be purchased from local Amish or grocery stores and prepared onsite. There's no oven but there are propane stoves. In general, for myself, I eat cold and raw (as much as practical) so I don't spend a lot of time cooking and cleaning up. Keep it as simple as possible.
